Abstract


A subject experiment was conducted to test what elements of personified agent are important to realize affective communication between human and computer. A story narration system was developed for this experimental study, in which a synthesized human face on graphic display would narrate a story by synthesized voice ¡Çaffectively¡Ç, with changing his facial expression dynamically in accordance with the progression of story. It was found from the experiment that addition of effective eye movement in the synthesized facial expression would be an important factor towards realizing affective elements by the personified interface.
