Abstract

DIAGNOSTIC PLANT ANALYSIS FOR NUCLEAR POWER PLANT EMERGENCIES. A method of diagnostic plant analysis for small-break loss of coolant accidents (SBLOCAs) in PWR plants has been developed which can produce qualified accident information without introducing additional sensors in an exisiting plant instrumentation system. The diagnostic plant analyser is functionally composed of (1)on-line real time estimators for various SBLOCA related safety parameters, e.g. break location, size, flow rate etc., and (2) a faster than real time accident tracking simulator, TOKRAC, which calculates post-accident thermal hydraulics within the PRQ primary system. Concerning the implementation of the two methods in a computerized plant analyser, the utilization of AI is being considered for processing the plant instrumentation data effectively and controlling communication between the on-line real time estimators and the accident tracking simulator TOKRAC.
