Abstract

Nuclear fuel cycle is comprised of a series of complex processes, and there are a lot of different scenarios how to configure nuclear fuel cycle system which may be suitable for the energy policy in future. In this paper, a new platform is proposed for the analysis of nuclear fuel cycle issues by introducing Multilevel Flow Model(MFM), which has been traditionally applied for various process plant to reduce various operation support systems such as signal validation, alarm analysis, fault diagnosis, operation procedure, etc. In the first place of this paper, various issues related with nuclear fuel cycle are briefly discussed. Brief explanations of MFM and MFMS are then introduced. The MFMS is a universal software platform to utilize MFM for the semiotic modeling of various process plant by graphical representation and to reduce various support system for the system¡Çs operation. Then the MFMS is applied to model the nuclear fuel cycle system by introducing a few new functions of MFM in order to cope with specific analysis of nuclear fuel cycle issue and to be utilized for an effective communication tool for general public.
