Abstract

More than 30 years has passed, since the first LNG ship arrived in Japan. Japan has so far constructed 25 receiving terminals nationwide. Compared with natural gas pipeline network of Europe and USA, Japan has poor network instead. It is concluded that Japan is surrounded by the sea, and does not have plenty of natural gas resources, Japan has been obliged to import natural gas as liguefied stages (LNG). Taking advantage of Japanese geographical reasons, the current receiving terminals should be used effectively. Concretely, not only pipelines but also roller tracks, railway containers and coastwise vessels should be derived. Natural gas penetration in Japan is apparently different from Europe and USA. Natural gas penetration in Japan just looks like spread that paper is saturated with water.
