Abstract

This study focuses on the effect of micro refresh (MR), which is a very short break that is taken separately from a normal break, on human concentration. In this study, we investigate a method to encourage MR by changing the background using VR. We thought that distracting people from their work content by changing the environment using VR would be effective for refreshment. We created a VR system to encourage MR, and conducted an experiment with 6 participants. In this experiment, while they solved the task displayed in the VR space, the surrounding space changed after a certain time passed. The results showed that while the average CTR(Concentration Time Ratio) decreased in the condition with MR, the CTR was greater in the second half of the experiment than in the first half.
